Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost – October 12, 2025

We gather on the 18th Sunday after Pentecost
October 12 –  10am worship

“One of them turned back, praising God” Luke 17:15

It’s a miracle! Multiple miracles! The waters of holy baptism have healed us. The body and blood of Jesus in holy communion have made us clean. We have died with Christ and been raised with him. For all this we have returned to offer thanks. From this place we are sent on our way rejoicing to share the good news.

There is usually a Children’s Church / Sunday School program planned during worship. Please contact Leslie Lapp 476-4700 for more info. The Family Room is always available adjacent to the sanctuary for little one’s activities if you need it. We love having children in church and all that brings as part of worship!

Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost – October 1, 2025

We gather on the 17th Sunday after Pentecost
Blessing of the Animals

  October 5 –  10am worship

“Increase our faith!” Luke 17:5

A little faith goes a long way is Jesus’ point in the gospel.  A mustard seed’s worth of faith has miraculous potential.  The patience, tenacity, and endurance required for the life of faith are the blessing received in holy baptism holy communion, and the word read and proclaimed in this assembly.  Anticipate them.  Receive them with thanksgiving.

“At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus” Luke 16:20

Consideration of and care for those in need (especially those “at our gate,” visible to us, of whom we are aware) is an essential component of good stewardship. It is in the sharing of wealth that we avoid the snare of wealth. It is the one whom death could not hold – who comes to us risen from the dead – who can free us from the death grip of greed.

Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost – September 21, 2025

We gather on the 15th Sunday after Pentecost
September 21 –  10am worship

“Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much”  Luke 16:10

Jesus tells the curious story of a dishonest manager who cheats his employer and then is commended by him for having acted so shrewdly. Jesus wonders why his own followers are less creative and diligent in their stewardship given that they are managers of a far more valuable household.

Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost – September 14, 2025

We gather on the 14th Sunday after Pentecost   
September 14 –  10am worship

“I have found the coin that I had lost”  Luke 15:9

The grumbling of the religious leaders in today’s gospel is actually our holy hope: This Jesus welcomes sinners and eats with them. That our God seeks and saves the lost is not only a holy hope, it is our only hope. As the writer of 1 Timothy reminds us, “The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Thanks be to God.
