Ground broken for St. Stephens Senior Housing

This Thursday saw the St. Stephen’s Senior housing ground-breaking. This project provides an affordable rental complex for low-income seniors, a population where more are becoming homeless.  About 150 people, a third from the congregation, attended the ceremony.

The $18 million project, six years in the making, represents the first time a church in Santa Cruz County has donated land for affordable housing.  The land, formerly an orchard, was donated to the church by member Ella Bostwick, who died in 1982.
